Freemasons Hall Capital Campaign

Our Vision, Our Legacy

Image

Image “I have always been proud to be a Mason, as were my father, and my grandfathers. I know of the good the Order has done in Newfoundland and Labrador. I am happy to assist the Masons of Newfoundland and Labrador in their efforts to build a new home at Masonic Park, as Patron. I encourage my brother Masons to contribute to this worthwhile project."
Honorary Patron, His Honour, the Honourable Edward Roberts, Lieutenant Governor of Newfoundland and Labrador

December 1, 2006

Dear Brother;

The construction of the new home for Newfoundland and Labrador Freemasonry will commence in the spring of 2007. After an exhaustive review of building options and locations it has been decided that “Freemasons Hall” will be erected at the Masonic Park Complex. This property is collectively owned and operated by the Masonic Fraternity of Newfoundland and Labrador. An artist concept of the Hall and floor plan can be viewed in this brochure.

The capital goal has been set at a minimum of $500,000 and will ensure the craft will have an affordable home for the next 100 years. Specific details of the project are outlined in this brochure. The Building and Capital Campaign Committees are confident that all Masons of Newfoundland and Labrador will be proud of their new home.

Details of how to donate are enclosed; all donors will receive a charitable receipt. If you have any questions please contact the undersigned or any of the members of the Capital Campaign Committee listed.

This is a turning point in Newfoundland and Labrador Freemasonry and together we encourage you to give serious consideration to participating in this capital project and thereby leave a permanent mark on the craft.

Thank you for your continued support.

Project Overview

Building Design

This new facility will be more than lodge rooms for our fraternity and Concordant Bodies. It will house the offices of the Grand Lodge of Newfoundland and Labrador and District Grand Lodge of Scotland as well as a library, meeting rooms, kitchen space, bar and eating area. Also it will become a significant component within Masonic Park, providing a Seniors Resource Centre which will include computer and exercise rooms for the use of residents and their guests.

Ample parking will be made available. The building will be handicap friendly with an elevator for accessibility to the lower level.

Project Financing

NLHC and CMHC have indicated they will make financing available through the equity existing in our ownership of Masonic Park. Mortgage renewal was scheduled for this December and when combined with the funds already available through Masonic Place, the proceeds from the sale of the Temple and the pledges made by the Lodges the project is ready to proceed on a financial basis. The financing package assumes a minimum fund raising target of $500,000.
