Freemasons’ Hall Construction Update |
|
October 28, 2007 - With two months of construction completed, the Freemasons Hall Construction Committee is pleased to report that the Project is progressing well, with no significant problems with the schedule at this time. The Contractor, Eastern Contracting Limited, continues to make progress towards completion of the $2.2 M Contract by the end of February 2008.

Lodge Tasker Makes Presentation to Freemasons Hall Fund |

At the regular meeting of Lodge Tasker No. 454 S.C held October 18th, 2007 the RWM Bro. Chesley Warren made a presentation of a commitment of $100,000 to the new Freemasons Hall project. The commitment, in the form of a low cost loan from the benevolent funds of Lodge Tasker , was a catalyst towards making the project viable. |

As part of the fundraising effort for the new Freemasons Hall we have been given donations in a variety of forms including US dollars, Euors, British Pounds even corporate share certificates and of course the Canadian dollars. In addition contributions also have included materials and labour as well as equipment. |

Masonic Temple Moving Day |

On October 22nd Bob LeDrew and Sons were at the Masonic Temple on Cathedral Street in St. Johns to begin the process of removing and storing the furniture and movable fixtures f the current Masonic Temple in St. John’s. For many of us a day with mixed emotions since it means the end of a long run for our Masonic Home for over 100 years however "...as on door closes, so opens another." |

WHITEWAY MEMORIAL REMOVED FROM CATHEDRAL STREET |

On October 15th a group of Masons led by Wor. Bro. Harry Vokey, Transition Team Committee, and Wor. Bro. Wilf MacDonald, P.M. removed the Whiteway Memorial from the east wall of the Masonic Temple on Cathedral Street. The memorial has been a fixture at the Masonic Temple for many years and is a tribute to Sir William Vance Whiteway, a mason and former Prime Minister of Newfoundland. |
